For Bulkhandling
Pneumatic Conveyors

1 DIVERTER OVERVIEW
1.1 APPLICATION
1.1.1 USE: Cyberco 30 degree diverters are used in low pressure pneumatic conveyor systems and can be used with solid fluidized material such as kaolin, calcium carbonate, pvc resin and other powdered products. They are designed to hold a buildup of material within the valve during the conveying operation. This buildup serves to help seal the gate against leakage but it should clean itself out during the cleaning cycle.
1.1.2 CONFIGURATION: These valves feature a floating flap gate. The 4", 5" and 6" can be obtained as manually operated or air actuated. The 8" is available only as air actuated. The diverters are sold with either a straight or 15 degree adapter on the inlet end of the valve. The straight adapter is used to configure a "Y" type diverter and the 15 degree adapter that can be rotated 180 degrees is used to configure a left or right hand line diverter. Standard pillow block bearings and bulk packing seals are used for easy maintenance.
1.1.3 CONSTRAINTS: Do not use these valves in low pressure conveyors to convey stringy or shredded material as this material will ball up within the gate area and prevent the valves from switching. The diverters are not a clean valve in the strict sense of the word since there are internal crevices therefor this should be considered if contamination is a problem.
1.2 INSTALLATION:
1.2.1 ORIENTATION: The diverters are best-mounted horizontal but may be mounted vertical or on the side. Side mounted valves may have a counter weight mounted to the shaft control arm to offset the weight of the gate. This is not important on the 4" and 5" but recommended with the 6" and 8".
1.2.2 LINE COUPLING: Various manufactures make couplings to adapt our diverters into the conveyor line. Dresser series 38 couplings are suitable for schedule 40 piping and series 62 reducing coupling will adapt our valves to the tubing sizes. Another way to adapt to tubing is to weld short schedule 40 pipe stubs onto the tubing and then use standard pipe couplings.
1.2.3 AIR & ELECTRICAL: The air actuated diverters should be connected to a regulated, lubricated, 80-100 psi air supply. The controls consist of an air cylinder, 4way double solenoid control valve and two limit switches. A typical schematic is provided but the customer performs the wiring installation.
